FAMILY COUNSELING
Family Counseling provides classes that the Court can Order defendants to take. Some of those classes are: Domestic Violence, Anger Management, and Alternative Behavior Training.
There are fees that have to be paid for classes. Generally, defendants ordered to attend domestic violence, anger management or alternative behavior training classes will have to pay $50.00 for an evaluation and $25 per class.
Assignment to Classes
Only the Court can order the classes and the defendant will be given a date to be evaluated by the Court Referral Officer and then a date to complete the classes.
Uncompleted Class
If the classes are not completed and the defendant does not appear in Court to explain why, a writ for the defendant’s arrest will be issued. Also, if the defendant is on probation and fails to complete the classes, the defendant is subject to probation revocation. If you are taking classes and (1) appear LATE for class or (2) do not come back from the bathroom before class re-starts - you may have to take the ENTIRE class over again. Normally, if you miss two (2) classes, you have to appear before the Judge to explain why you failed to attend those classes and the Judge will decide whether to let you take those classes again.
